On-premises custom jewelry design and manufacturing. Nothing leaves our hands until it's yours.

Most custom jewelry is sketched in one place, manufactured in another, and shipped back weeks later. At J.R. Dunn, the entire process — design consultation, CAD rendering, 3D wax prototype, casting, stone setting, and finishing — happens in our Lighthouse Point showroom. Our custom jewelry designer, Robert Pelliccia, meets with every client personally. No middlemen. No guesswork. Just custom made jewelry built exactly to your vision.

From Sketch to Finished Piece

No limits on what your custom ring design can be.

Robert's custom jewelry design capabilities span from the most classic solitaire to pieces that have never existed before. Every design starts as a hand-drawn sketch — signed by Robert — and is refined until it's exactly what you envisioned. The result is custom designed jewelry that is genuinely one of a kind.

Gemstone Sourcing

Rare stones sourced globally for your bespoke jewelry.

Our on-staff GIA Certified Gemologist travels to international trade shows to hand-select stones that simply aren't available through standard channels. Whether your custom jewelry design calls for a Colombian emerald, a Kashmir sapphire, or a rare fancy diamond, we source it directly. Every gem follows the Kimberley Process and responsible sourcing standards.

Everything you want to know about custom jewelry design.

How much does custom jewelry cost?

Custom jewelry cost varies widely depending on the metal, gemstones, and complexity of the design. Simple custom pieces in gold typically start around $5,000. Bespoke engagement rings with significant diamonds or colored stones can range from $5,000 to any imaginable number depending on specifications. During your consultation, Robert will work within your budget to find the best design and stone combination. Book a private appointment to discuss pricing for your specific vision.

How long does a custom engagement ring take?

Most custom engagement rings take 4–6 weeks from the initial design consultation to the finished piece. Timelines vary based on design complexity, stone sourcing, and any revisions to the CAD rendering or wax prototype. If you have a specific date in mind — a proposal, anniversary, or holiday — let us know when you book and we'll build the timeline around it.

What is bespoke jewelry?

Bespoke jewelry is custom made jewelry designed and built entirely to a client's specifications — as opposed to semi-custom pieces where you choose from preset settings and stones. At J.R. Dunn, every bespoke jewelry commission starts with a blank page: Robert sketches your design from scratch, creates a unique CAD rendering, and manufactures the piece in our on-premises studio. Nothing is taken off-the-shelf.

Who makes the custom jewelry at J.R. Dunn?

Robert Pelliccia, our in-house jewelry designer, handles every custom jewelry commission from the initial sketch through final approval. Robert has won over 20 industry design awards and has been designing exclusively for J.R. Dunn in Lighthouse Point, South Florida for decades. All manufacturing is done by Robert and his team of artisans in our on-site studio — no work is sent to outside workshops.

Can I redesign or repurpose existing jewelry?

Yes. Redesigning heirloom jewelry or repurposing stones from existing pieces is one of the most meaningful custom jewelry design projects we take on. Robert meets with you to discuss the history of the piece and what you'd like to create. Your existing stones and metal can often be incorporated directly into the new design, reducing cost and preserving sentimental value.
