What metal is right?
While ultimately you will have to make that decision, as your family’s trusted jeweler we have some tips for you when choosing.
Precious Metals
There’s nothing wrong with that classic yellow gold mens ring his grandfather wears but today styles have greatly changed. Everyone wants to express themselves these days and show their personal style. If you think he still loves that timeless style, but would like something a little more modern, than he’ll love a white gold wedding ring. If he is on the leading edge of fashion, a rose gold mens wedding ring would be the perfect gift.
For the epitome of style and luxury, platinum is a wonderful choice. Often the most costly, platinum is a pure white material and requires less maintenance than white gold. As a material, platinum is 30-40% heavier than gold, so expect some heft to any platinum mens wedding ring.

Diamond Wedding Rings
Diamonds are not just for women. A diamond men’s wedding ring might be right for your loved one. Often purchased as a matching wedding ring, a simple row of diamonds give a nice sparkle to those wedding day pictures next to your engagement ring.
Of course, there are many different diamond wedding ring styles for him. The most traditional men’s diamond band has round brilliant cut diamonds set in what is called a channel. If you think that’s too much for him though, select a ring with just one, or a few that are set down into the ring for just a touch of sparkle.

Alternative Metal Wedding Rings
For the ultra-sporty, rugged or highly expressive, there are a wide-range of metals outside the world of gold and platinum. Tungsten wedding rings are the most common alternative metal for wedding rings. However, we’ve seen a huge surge in cobalt wedding bands, zirconium wedding bands, titanium rings, stainless steel and others being worn by men. Some benefits of these metals are they are more affordable than precious metals and most are scratch resistant.
There are some downsides to alternative metals though. While most precious metal rings can be sized by our studio or any other Jeweler, these rings must be sent to the manufacturer to be changed. Although not the case for all of these rings, tungsten carbide wedding bands are brittle and if you drop them they could shatter or break. These contemporary metal rings also hold little to no value if you ever wanted to trade them in.

Wood Wedding Bands
If he’s an outdoorsman, or the crafty sort then a wood wedding band might be the perfect fit for your loved one. Available in many exotic hardwood inlays, there are a variety of metals that these wooden rings can be paired with. Wood men’s wedding rings are becoming more and more popular as each inlay in different from the next.
One thing to consider is that these are made of natural materials and wood rings are softer and less durable than metal. Often these rings will also be lighter than a full metal band, so they may be a bit more comfortable and less-noticeable on the hand. Also, although the wood is treated, he would not want to go diving or swimming in the ocean or in chemical treated pools while wearing these as it could ruin the finish.

Different finishes
If you find that he’s not a flashy person, then a high-polish finish isn’t for him. It’s best to purchase something with a satin finish on the band for an elegant, understated look. There are various different finishes that you can order a men’s wedding ring in such as the previous mentioned high-polish and satin finishes, but many of our wedding rings can be ordered with a hammered, sand blasted, rope finished, multiple polishing styles, carved, engraved, or personalized.
These finishes can greatly change how a ring looks. For instance, a worn finish on a wedding ring that has diamonds set in it can bring it from being super flashy to a mix of luxury and rugged. There are many options, and some men have multiple wedding bands to wear on different occasions.

What finger size is he?
We get this question from customers a lot and the truth is, we don’t know! That is, not without measuring his finger first. There are many different methods spoken about online on how to get an accurate finger size. But if know the style but not the size, you can request a free finger sizing kit that we’ll send to you so you don’t have to worry about the ring not fitting on the wedding day.
But what if you’re not sure he’s going to like the style of the ring? Or you still aren’t sure of the size. Just pick a standard, returnable ring size. But, make sure to give yourself enough time before the big day so that he’s not left without a ring on your wedding day!
