Spotlight: Marco Bicego Diamond Lunaria Collection Dazzles
How do you take a special collection like Lunaria and make it even more so? If you’re Marco Bicego, you add dazzling diamond gemstones and elements of 18kt white gold! As with so many of his collections, nature was Bicego’s muse in the design of the Lunaria collection. Pieces honor the Lunaria flower, noted for its petals that are hand-embossed and hand-etched with a satin finish. Bulino, an ancient Italian goldsmith technique, leaves countless lines on the surface of the jewelry. In Diamond Lunaria, the delicate, elegant pieces of jewelry are as expressive as ever, with their irregularly shaped silhouettes now encrusted with luxurious pave diamonds that have been hand-set by expert craftsmen. The proof is in the products! Check out a pair of small 18kt gold and diamond drop earrings. A luminous free-form plate framed by polished white gold is embellished with diamonds. It descends to a larger brushed yellow gold leaf. You can almost hear the piece rustle in the wind and feel the cool breeze. The petal kissing bangle delivers equal parts satin and sparkle. The open-ended bracelet features two tones of 18kt leaves that are oh-so-close to touching. One is flat brushed 18kt brushed gold, while the other is crafted in 18kt white gold and adorned with white diamonds. There’s no better time than spring to get your first Diamond Lunaria or add to your collection! It is, after all, when flowers bloom!

Breitling Watches Near Me? Siri gets Sassy Before Basel 2016
Wanting to make sure our store shows up in local queries, we asked Siri to find each individual watch brand we carry followed by "near me". While we were happy we showed up first, we were shocked with Siri's answers. Whichever watch we asked about she said "I'm a fan of the Apple watch myself. And not just because I'm in it." At first I thought it was cute and amusing, but when I delved deeper, I wondered what if we actually carried watches at that same price point? How is that fair? I know Siri was triggered by the word watches and isn't targeting any particular brand. But imagine if other search engines, like Google, pointed everyone to a competitor in local results or search results based on the word "jewelers". In Google's case you'd either have to earn it by creating a quality page that suits its algorithms or buy a paid listing; both of which anybody can do if they want to dedicate the time, money and resources. Apple gives a shameless plug and top billing to its own product, whether it's earned that position or not! How long has this cute and sassy suggestion about the Apple watch been going on? How many millions of people are getting this not-so-subtle nudge about the product? With Swiss watch sales off to a challenging start this year (see stats at the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry website ), those with timepieces at a price point similar to the Apple watch can't love this revelation. Thankfully, we don't feel Apple's cute attempt at a redirect can come close to swaying anyone from purchasing a luxury Swiss timepiece like Rolex or Breitling, but if you make gadgets you had better be aware and beware! We're off to the Baselworld 2016 watch and jewelry fair to see the latest and greatest from the most renowned brands in our industry. While we won't be looking at Apple watches, the irony isn't lost on me that I will be downloading the latest Baselworld app on my iPhone to navigate the show!

Jewelry Designer Finds First-Time Judging Duty a Revelation
When J.R. Dunn Jewelers’ award-winning, in-house designer, Robert Pelliccia, was asked to judge the Lila Lewenthal Jewelry Award competition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art-The Art School, he had no idea what an impact the experience would have on him. It raised his awareness of how difficult the process is and gave him a new appreciation for judges. “I have entered many contests, but this is the first time I acted as a judge,” said Pelliccia. “Every piece is different, so judging them against one another was much more difficult than I thought. You need to evaluate each piece by individual beauty, wearability, creativity, along with form and function. The decision-making process would have been easier had all the pieces been the same; then only craftsmanship would have come into play!” Pelliccia recently pronounced Mary Drago the winner of a $500 dollar tuition scholarship for her sterling silver cuff bracelet, “Corset” at the art school. The winning piece will be on display at the art school for three weeks, and Drago’s name will be inscribed on a plaque that graces one of its walls. Loret Gomez and Marta Cruz-Janzen were the second- and third-place winners, respectively. Gomez’s sterling silver “Streaming Bubble” bracelet and Cruz-Janzen’s bronze clay metal necklace, “Forest,” were recognized. While at the school, Pelliccia toured the student workshop areas and spent some time with jewelry instructor Don Dietz. “His passion for teaching others was inspiring,” said Pelliccia. The instructor in the gem and jewelry arts for more than 40 years clearly loves what he does. “The students are a joy to instruct,” said Dietz. “They are eager, dedicated and willing to pursue new ideas. I am personally humbled by their creativeness.” Pelliccia was also happy to see the students’ excitement about their creations and design process, as well as their appreciation for his participation. “It’s nice to see people love to express themselves through art,” he said. Drago agrees, wholeheartedly, sharing how she is continually inspired by teachers and excited by learning in the name of self-expression. “I enjoy taking raw materials and creating something unique,” she said. “I gain great satisfaction working in metal.” Robert Pelliccia started his jewelry career, which has spanned more than 30 years, at the age of 18. He took courses in jewelry repair, diamond setting and model-making, and worked as a bench jeweler prior to beginning to design. He is a nationally recognized jewelry designer, honored with a host of awards over the years, including three prestigious De Beers Diamond Today Awards, a Modern Jeweler magazine Buyers Choice Award and 12 American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) Spectrum Awards. The Pelliccia portfolio includes bridal, colored gemstone and fashion pieces, much of which is crafted in karat gold and platinum. How to Buy Natural Colored Dazzling Diamonds
Natural colored diamonds are rare and therefore unique, which means jewelry containing them makes a statement about its owner. Diamonds are the hardest of all gemstones and therefore reflect light with a brilliance that outshines allothers. Among these, colored diamonds have emerged as a favorite, particularly among jewelry lovers who like to assert their individuality. Colored diamonds are rare, but yellow diamonds are among the most readily available natural colored diamonds on the market. Yet even these are rare: for every colored diamond found, there are at least 10,000 colorless ones. The standard diamond color grading scale for diamonds was developed by the Gemological Institute of America. When the color is very intense, it is classified as a fancy colored diamond. For fancy colored diamonds, the deeper, purer and more saturated colors are usually the rarest, most costly, and most desirable. Yellow diamonds are brilliant and vibrant, and stand out from the rest, which makes them a favorite on the Red Carpet. Growing in popularity, yellow diamonds, also as center diamonds in engagement rings as. They work well in vintage designs, where they sparkle with a special brilliance that stands out from the rest. The beauty of a yellow diamond is that, as the most common of colored diamonds, it is affordable, but rare enough that you won’t see one on every woman walking down the aisle. How to buy a colored diamond Three of the most important factors impacting the price of a natural color diamond are strength of color, rarity of color, and size. Strength of color: The color intensity of a natural colored diamond can be graded as Fancy Light, Fancy, Fancy Intense, or Fancy Vivid — with Fancy Vivid constituting the highest grade. The stronger the intensity of a colored diamond, the higher the value will be. Rarity of color: The rarity of a colored diamond will affect its price. The more common colors, such as gray, brown, and yellow, will generally have a lower cost than rarer colors, such as pink, blue, green, purple, and orange, which occur less frequently in nature. The rarest known and most expensive color of all is red. Size: Large colored diamonds are extremely rare. This makes them exponentially more expensive. 5 Perfect South Florida Spots to Pop the Question in Style
You've stopped by J. R. Dunn and picked out the perfect ring to pop the question and you thought all the hard work was over. Now comes the next big decision: Where to propose. From European-style gardens to opulent mansions on South Beach, these five spots are sure to surprise your bride-to-be when you ask her if she'll say "I do." Spend the day strolling through the fine art collection at the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach making your way to the glass-encased Harris Family Pavilion. Pop the question underneath the colorful Dale Chihuly ceiling, which not only adds a magical element to the proposal, it also makes for a picturesque spot to snap away once she says yes. Stepping into Casa Tua on South Beach feels more like you're visiting a friend in Northern Italy—and the service is just as intimate. Cozy up at a table in the garden outside the Mediterranean villa underneath lantern-lit tree and order up a bottle of top-notch Champagne, giving her a glass that's sparkling in more ways than one. If you want to propose at a place that looks as pretty as the ring you'll be giving her, the decadent Versace mansion on Ocean Drive is the place. While inside at Gianni's is gorgeous, poolside is even more jaw-dropping. Sit under the stars at the terrace overlooking the infamous Thousand Mosaic Pool with 24K sparkling gold tiles, surrounded by Mediterranean gardens where she'll be just as in awe of the scenery as she is when you present the ring. What's more romantic than sitting on the water with the Miami skyline twinkling in the backdrop? Celebrity favorite Seaspice on the Miami River was once a warehouse that's been converted into a nautical brasserie, complete with a covered patio where you can watch the boats pass by—or even hop on one. After popping the question, surprise your new fiancée with a yacht cruise leaving right from the restaurant's private dock. At Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, there's no lack of picture-perfect places to propose, from butterfly-filled fields to the Edible Garden that looks like something out of Adam and Eve. If you want some privacy, head down the tree-lined Allee for a lookout point over the lake that makes for a stunning proposal spot.

TAG Heuer Connected Smartwatch Set To Debut November 9
TAG Heuer is bringing its Android Wear smartwatch to market just in time for Holiday 2015. The TAG Heuer Connected is a digital version of the TAG Heuer black Carrera. It gives the impression of a “normal” watch, while maintaining the design house’s style. The collaboration between TAG Heuer, Intel and Google was first announced at Baselworld March 2015. The union blends luxury watch-making, software and hardware. “There is no other choice for TAG Heuer than to have all its DNA, all its watch-making emotion and flair into the…watch somehow,” said Jean-Claude Biver, TAG Heuer chief executive officer at this time. The TAG Heuer countdown web site teased the first image of the Android Wear Smartwatch, revealed its name and counts down to the launch date in real time. A timeline of the company’s major milestones is included. The 2015 high point: “TAG Heuer is pushing the Swiss avant garde limits even further with the TAG Heuer Connected. Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology. The clock is ticking to the major breakthrough.” The TAG Heuer Connected has a battery life of 40 hours. Owners will be able to upgrade the technology. The company famous for pushing the technological envelope in the industry will be first in the market with this type of hardware. “We want to be able to change the technology but keep the watch elements,” said the company’s UK Communication Manager Alexandra King. “We want to create something that will stay on your watch for a lifetime…As the technology changes it will change.” The TAG Heuer Connected hardware is not manufactured in Switzerland. The watches will, however, be assembled there. “For a traditional mechanical watch, ‘Swiss Made’ is a reference and criteria of reliability and quality,” said Biver. For a Connected watch, Android from Google and Intel Inside are the criteria of quality and reliability.” The TAG Heuer Connected is scheduled to make its debut on November 9, 2015 with a retail cost of $,1400. Add the big, luxurious smartphone to your holiday wish list!

Food For The Poor 20th Annual Building Hope Gala Event
Local luxury jewelry retailer J.R. Dunn Jewelers cares about people, places and things. Owners Jim Dunn, Ann Marie Dunn and Sean Dunn are actively involved in a number of charities, giving of both their time and money. Most recently, the family-owned-and-operated business was a sponsor of the 20th Annual Food for the Poor Building Hope Gala in support of the organization’s home-building initiative in the area of Pon Batay, Haiti. “I come from a family that supports each other, and has always made it a point to give back,” said Sean Dunn. “I am honored to play a small part in the big efforts of Food for the Poor’s home construction project.” Dunn, his wife and many of their friends were among the crowd of more than 450 people at the Old Hollywood Glamour-themed Gala that honored Office Depot Foundation President Mary Wong, where Grammy Award-winning reggae artist Shaggy put on a show with The Hot Shot Band, bringing virtually everyone to their feet to dance. The musical performers weren't the only one in the spotlight that evening; they shared it with the country of Haiti and its vital housing needs. Community leaders and local business people sat with rapt attention, listening to stories relating to just how life-changing the gift of a safe and secure home means to people who have spent years living in dirt-floored makeshift huts. Everyone was touched what can be done when a community comes together and cares. Thanks to the Building Hope Gala, 40 destitute families will have homes by mid-summer 2015. The value of a safe and secure home is priceless; it’s a gift that provides not only shelter, but hope, too. “This evening showed deeply how homes for Haiti are in the hearts of South Florida philanthropists,” said Dunn. “A good time was had by all for a great cause.” To learn more about the work Food for the Poor is doing, visit www.foodforthepoor.
