I recently received my new Accutron 314 from J.R. DUNN. I've seen people balk at the price, but the time, effort, and expense involved in bringing something like this back from the dead can't be underestimated. I've seen people complain about the design decisions, but I agree with all of them. Moving the crown from the back to 4:00 allows an exhibition caseback while still maintaining Accutron DNA like that of the 218. Moving the index wheel and pawls to the front and enlarging the index wheel so it is visible add character and interest. Slightly increasing the size of the original makes it fit more with modern tastes. It is a revival, not a replica. And it is a great one at that.
Kudos to the Citizen Watch Group for resurrecting the tuning fork movement. A technological advance that I believe was the most important step in the entire history of watchmaking. Even the quartz movement is nothing more than a refinement of tuning fork principles. And kudos to J.R. DUNN for their commitment and follow-through on distributing a niche but important piece.
